Syllable counter
Paste your lyrics and see the syllables of every line, so the lines you sing on the same part of the beat have the same weight.

How it works
Each word is looked up in the pronouncing dictionary the Lyric Studio app uses and its vowel sounds are counted, so “fire” counts as it is sung and “quiet” as two syllables. Words the dictionary doesn’t know are estimated from their spelling.
Use the counts to keep a flow tight: two lines that rhyme and land on the same beat should be close in syllables. If one runs four or more syllables longer, cut a filler word or split the line. More on this in how to write lyrics to a beat.
Questions
How do I count syllables in a lyric?
Say the line out loud and count each vowel sound: "Lights on the stage" has 4 syllables. This counter does it for every line at once and shows the total and the average per line.
How many syllables should a line have?
There is no fixed number, but lines that sit on the same part of the beat work best with similar counts. In pop and R&B most lines land between 6 and 12 syllables; rap verses often run longer. Keep rhyming pairs within 3 syllables of each other.
How accurate is the syllable counter?
Words in its 50,000-word pronouncing dictionary are counted exactly as they are pronounced. Slang and made-up words are estimated from their spelling; hover a line to see which words were estimated.
